Warning: Part 4 Chapter 2.4 spoilers

Here, we explain in more detail the hidden message in the lyrics of Sakura Message as explained by Banri in part 4 Chapter 2.4.

Sakura Message lyrics

Tatta futa moji dake de ii kamo, (Maybe two letters <japanese characters> are enough) dakedo kotoba mayoi sagashita yo
Isshuukan go ni mata sono saki no oto kakitashite (After one week, the words resurface)

Here, “after one week” is a metaphor that means “for each 7th syllable.” But according to the first part, we need two Japanese characters. So we take out the 7th and 8th syllables.*

Sotto hokorobu sakura tachi, hidamari no yasashisa shitta you ni
Deaeta no nara hanaretemo, kienai mono wo shitta yo

Sukoshi zutsu furu kisu wa, hanabira ni niteta honest love

Itsudemo kimi wo hisoyaka ni omotteru
Sono kokoro ga tojitemo kawarazu ni
Saite soshite chi ni kaeru usubeni no
Ichizusa utsu shita you ni
Kizuita koko kara mieru sekai wa
Kikazara zu ni iu nara takara mono
Sakura….negau koto ima hitotsu kanau nara
Omoide wo kakikesu gurai no asu ni nare

Which forms Sakura Haruki wo hitojichi ni shita kara iu koto kike and it means “I have Sakura Haruki as hostage so listen to what I say.”

*Katakana and hiragana represent one syllable. There are Kanji (chinese characters) that represent more than one syllable, but in the official lyrics you’ll see how a few kanji were spelled in katakana or hiragana so that if they ever happen to be the 7th or 8th syllable of a line, it wouldn’t ruin the message.

I was so mindblown when I first knew about this. Idolish7 staff are geniuses.
